What is the property of nitric acud which allow to react with copper

Dear Student

Copper is an unreactive metal and doesnot react with dilute acids. 
The property that makes nitric acid react with copper is that nitric acid is a strong oxidising agent.

Cu + 4HNO₃ -------> Cu (NO₃)₂ + 2H₂O + 2NO₂
