What is the role of PGA?

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

PGA is phosphoglycerate, a 3-C compound. The structure of 3-PGA allows it to  rearrange to form sugars that can be transported to additional cells or can be stored for energy. It is first stable product of the calvin cycle and is created from PGAL in glycolysis which is also produced in the calvin cycle in photosynthesis. In the Calvin cycle, 3-Phosphoglycerate is the product of the spontaneous split of an unstable 6-carbon intermediate formed by CO2 fixation. It  acts as a metabolic intermediate in both glycolysis and Krebs cycle.
