What is the role of plants in biogeochemical cycles?

Plants like other organisms play important role in various biogechemoical cycles. Biogeochemical cycle are the cyclic flow of nutrients between non living environment and living organisms. Plants act as source as well as producers of various  chemical nutrient such as oxygen, hydrogen, carbon and nitrogen in a biosphere and so participate in their biogeochemical cycles.
