Interstitial fluid is the liquid found between the cells of the body that provides much of the liquid environment of the body. The loop of Henle sticks into the medulla and the environment around the loop of Henle is the interstitial fluid of the medulla. It helps to deliver nutrients to the cells and also helps to carry waste from the cells to other organs like the kidneys, from where it is eliminated.
