what is the significance of regression coefficient

Regression coefficient, Z is defined as the slope of the line in the graph which is plotted for species richness versus area. Larger is the area, steeper will be the plot. It can be calculated by the following formula:
S= CAz
Log S= Log C + Z Log A
Significance of Regression coefficient:
When the species richness increases in an area the regression coefficient or the slope of regression becomes steeper. The steepness of the slope decreases as the number of different species goes down; thereby, the value of the regression coefficient increases.
Species richness in an area determines the value of the regression coefficient.
