what is the similarity between Marble and whitewashed wall?

Dear Student, Marble and white wash both have one similarity that they are made up of calcium carbonate. But marble is hard and white wash is thin layer. White wash is a mixture of slaked lime, chalk, water and other ingredients such as ground rice, glue, flour etc.Limestone (calcium carbonate) is heated to produce quicklime (calcium oxide). Water is added to quick lime to produce slaked lime (calcium hydroxide), which is sold as a white powder.Chalk is added as a whitener and water is added to form a paste before using. The paste may be stored in air-tight containers. As the whitewash is exposed to carbon dioxide in the air, it cures and acquires a bright white color. Regards
