What is the use of a gullet in a protozoa?

A gullet is an invagination of protoplasm in protozoans like paramecium. It helps in the intake and digestion of food in these organisms.

The gullet in a protozoa helps in digestion of food:-

The food through the cell mouth to the gullet.When the gullet base has been filled with enogh food it forms a food vacoule which start circulating throughout the circle.

After the protozoa has digested food, the vacuole shrinks and bursts at the anal pore after expelling the waste contents.
