What is volatile and non volatile acids?

A volatile substance is a substance which vapourises easily when left in open. It readily changes from liquid state to vapour state at normal temperatures and pressure.

Hence an acid which vapourises readily is a volatile acid. For example Hydrochloric acid.

A non-volatile acid on the other hand is a substance which does not vapourises easily and will not undergo change of state, i.e. it will remain in a liquid state.

volatile acids vaporise easily and non volatile acids do not vaporise easily means volatile acids have low boling point for eg.HCL or nitric acid and non volatile have high boling point for eg. conc. sulphuric acid

volatile means which evaporates at room temperature...(there boiling points are low)

non- volatile means which does not evaporate at room temperature.......(there boiling points are quite high)
