What is xanthoproteic acid??

Dear student,

Xanthoproteic acid is yellow coloured non-crystallizable substance which is obtained from proteins on treating with nitric acid. 
The reaction of proteins with nitric acids to give yellow colour nitrated substance is called xanthoproteic reaction.
