what is your opinion on Hume's role regarding the foundation of Indian National Congress?

Dear student,

Allan Octavian Hume worked for the Imperial Civil Service, which was later renamed the Indian Civil Service. Hume founded the Indian National Congress. He was also an ornithologist, and he is known as the "Father of Indian Ornithology."Hume had sympathy with Indians. He told Lord Dufferin to provide a political platform to Indians so that their anger with British policies could be come out in form of speeches and assemblies. With the help of Hume, in 1885 indian national congress was formed and he became the first secretary of that.
