1. Small towns have mandapika wherein the villagers from nearby villages brought their produce to sell
2. They also had market streets called as hatta which were lined by shops
3. Besides, there are streets for artisans like potters, oil pressers, sugar makers, toddy makers, smiths, stone masons etc
