Since gandhiji had shaken the lawyer to come out of their stupor and support him and also said that they would follow him to jail made gandhiji feel that the battle in champaran won. Due to the non-violence civil disobedience movement of gandhiji along with lawyers support made the lieutenant-governor drop the case.

The Lieutenant Governor was forced to drop the case against Gandhiji because the lawyers had told Gandhiji that they would follow him into jail. So the Lieutenant Governor wrote to the Magistrate ordering him to drop the case against Gandhiji.
