What opinion did Chubukov have about Lomov?

Dear Student,

In the initial part of the story, Lomov is seen to have a very kind and warm opinion about the Chubukov. He said that he has known him since his childhood. He reminded Natalya that his uncle and aunt had great respect for her family. It was because of the topic of the ownership of the Oxen Meadows that Lomov and Natalya ran into a heated conversation. He claimed Chubukov about the illegal ownership over his land. In the end, Lomov calls Chubukov an intriguer, but earlier, Chubukov has himself called Lomov a “malicious, double-faced intriguer.”
