what r eddy currents.tell me in detail.i need it

 See, Eddy current are nothing but the induced current in the bulk of the metal. Normally we consider a very small element to show that current are induced in it via changing magnetic fields. But Foucalt discovered that current are also induced in the bulk of a metal such as Aluminium, Copper etc. In this way Eddy current was discovered. It has a wide application in daily life. FOr eg:

1. Laminating of transformer to prevent heating and other loss

2. Induction

3. DIathermy in medical.

Eddy currents are the circulating currents produced when it is placed in the changing magnetic feild or moved in uniform magnetic feild.This causes change in flux which induce emf in the coil and thus there is production of current. This current shows the heating effect but not the sparking effect. Its applicattion are 1- In induction furnace to melt metals.2- In the speedometer.3- In the dead beat galvanometer.
