what r the effect of forest law on postolists
and shifting cultivation

Dear student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query.

Effect of changes in forest management on shifting cultivators-
When the colonial government reserved the forest areas for themselves,it greatly affected the day to day life of the shifting cultivators .For centuries these cultivators used to cut certain parts of the forest in rotation ,burn the trees and snow-seeds in the ashes after the first monsoon rains ,but the British government reserved these forests for themselves .There centuries old professions of shifting agriculture was stopped once for all.

Effects of forest laws on pastoralists- The reservation of forests areas by the British government also sealed the fate of many nomadic and pastoralists communities .They could not graze their cattle in the forest area, nor could they collect fruits and roots to eat ,woo to construct their houses ,make their agricultural implements and to make fences ,and to collect herbs to use as medicines etc.

Hope this information will clear your doubt.

Regards

The forest acts affected the life of the pastoralists as they were restricted to go to reserved forests and they can't cut protected forests they can only cut the village forests in which the quality of wood was very bad for fuel or making homes. They have to steal wood and if they would caught they were at the mercy of the guards. Especially women were worried because if they will be caught they would be harassed or raped.
