what rattrap was the peddler trapped in ? how did he come out of it? expainASAP!!!

The pedlar was trapped in the world's rat trap when he stole money from the crofter ( keep in mind money and all riches are just baits to the trap) then he was again trapped when he surrendered to the persuasion of ms edla and goes to the manor house (comfort was also considered a bait by the pedlar) he was finally released from the trap by the kindness and understanding showed ms edla that he returns the money he stole (bait) and raises himself to captain while writing the letter to edla :)

The peddler was trapped in the trap offered by the world which offers riches, joys, and food as bait like rattrap offers pork and cheese. Money, riches acted as a bait for the peddler. He was attracted towards the money(i.e., bait offered by the world) because he was poor, his cloths were in rags, he did not have enough money to survive.
He came out of this trap when he went to iron master's house when he mistook him as his old acquaintance Captain Nils Olof  and invited him to his house for Christmas Eve but he declined his invitation but accepted Edla Willmansson's invitation as she invited him in such a friendly manner that the rattrap peddler agreed to go with her. After the Christmas Eve when he was leaving from the iron master's house he left a gift for Edla as he was treated as a captain through out his stay therefore he wanted to behave as a real captain and hence he left thirty kronor rupees of the crofter, which he wanted Edla to return it to the crofter and a small rattrap for Edla as a gift from a rat and he signed the note as Captain Von Stahle.
