Derry had a low self-esteem. He tells Mr. Lamb about sarcastic comments about his looks, even his mother kisses on the other side of face. He thinks that people are afraid of him and no one loves him. Mr. Lamb's meeting changes Derry’s attitude towards life. In spite of having a lame leg, Mr. Lamb has a positive spirit. He does not care what people think about him and does whatever he likes. He befriends Derry and encourages him to love life as it is. Mr. Lamb makes him realise that there are other more important things in life other than his appearance. He makes Derry understand that the world is full of good and bad things and he should learn to accept both. And this is how Mr. Lamb makes a change in Derry's outlook towards life.
