What special for onam ??

Dear student,

Your question is not clear and appears to be incomplete. Recheck your question or please be a little specific about the name of the chapter/textbook to which you are referring here so that we can provide you with some meaningful help.

However, I believe this is what you are referring to:
What is special about Onam?

Onam is a harvest festival. The word Onam is originated from the Sanskrit word Shravanam which means one of the 27 constellations. It is the main festival of Kerala.

Onam marks the home-coming of the mythical demon king Mahabali. Long ago Kerala was ruled by the demon king Mahabali. His subjects liked him. His kingdom prospered and there was peace all over. Due to this the gods started envying him. They approached Lord Vishnu, who took the form of Vamana (Brahmin boy). He went to King Mahabali and asked for 3 feet of land. When Vamana started measuring the land, he grew in size and his first foot covered the entire earth. With second foot he covered the sky. For the third feet King Mahabali asked Vamana to keep his foot on his head. Pleased with Mahabali,  Vamana gave a boon to the King that he would be able to visit his subjects once a year. This time of the year is called Onam.

I hope this answers your query. Look forward to hearing from you again!
Regards
