What steps were taken by the French when Germany refused to pay its gold reserves in 1923? Only experts answer (no irrelevant answers)
Dear Student,
In 1923, Germany refused to pay its gold reserves as war reparations to the French. As a result, France has took over one of Germany's leading industrial areas called Ruhr, in order to claim their coal. During the allied powers occupation of Ruhr, Germany had extensively printed and issued paper money which in turn has destroyed their own currency. This led to a situation of hyper-inflation.
