What volume of H2 at STP is required to reduce 0.795 of CuO to give Cu and H2O.
Dear Student,
Reaction : CuO + H2 ------> Cu + H2O
copper oxide and hydrogen gas react in 1:1 ratio.
Mass of 1 mole of copper oxide = 79.5 g
Moles of copper = given mass/ molar mass = 0.795/ 79.5 = 0.01 mole
1 mole of copper oxide react with 1 mole of Hydrogen gas
And we know that 1 mole of any gas at STP = 22.4 l
so, Volume of hydrogen gas which is required to reduced 0.795 g of CuO = 22.4 X 0.01 = 0.224 l
