what was einstein's future plan for further education after leaving school at munich?

Albert Einstein had thought of taking admission in an Italian college after his leaving the school in Munich. For the Italian institute to admit him, he needed a diploma. He had thought of asking his mathematics teacher, who was much impressed of Einstein, a letter of recommendation or so, considering his work in the subject so far, that might help him get into a proper Italian college.
