- What was the composition of the Constituent Assembly?

b. Elections to the Constituent Assembly took place in July 1946, whereby the elected members of the Provisional legislative Assembly elected members of Constituent Assembly by proportional representation system.
c. Thus, members were elected in an indirect manner.
d. Before the Partition the Constituent Assembly was supposed to have 389 which was later reduced to 299,out of which 284 were actually present who gave their assent when the Constitution was passed.
