In the story 'The Address', when the young lady went to ask Mrs. Dorling about her mother's belongings, she noticed that Mrs. Dorling was wearing her mother's green knitted cardigan. She also noticed the wooden buttons which had turned pale from washing over the years. Mrs. Dorling saw her looking at the cardigan and further hid behind the door.
