After Germany developed the technology of nuclear fission, Einstein was alarmed that they could use it to make atomic bombs and therefore, wrote about the disastrous effect that it can have on a population to Roosevelt. Unfortunately, it led to USA taking keen interest in developing atomic bombs. Later, USA developed atomic bombs and used it against Japan during the Second World War.
