I don't know the process but the people who were copying the manuscripts were known as scribes. Drawbacks:
Some peoples handwriting can't be understood and when others copy some errors occur.

I do not know the name of the process but I know that when the manuscripts were copied, those were called scribes. The drawback is THAT WHEN the people who were copying scribes dont undertstand whatever is written in the manuscript , they made small changes here and there.
