What were ranga's views on marriage in the beging of the story?does he act according to his views?

In the beginning of the story , Ranga was of the opinion that one should marry a girl of about the same age . By giving the example of his Officer friend , he says that by doing so , he would be able to talk to his wife lovingly .
If he marries a girl who is too young , she may not be able to understand his views , and misjudge him . Plus , she might not know how to present herself to the society , which can turn out to be a huge problem for both of them .
But later , as the story progresses , Ranga acts against his own beliefs , and marries Ratna , who is way younger than him .
Hence , he does not act according to his views .
