what were the challenges faced by booker in setting up the tuskegee institute? how did he overcome them?

Booker had expected Tuskegee to already possess the necessary apparatus for him to begin teaching but, sadly, that was not the case. The money that the Legislature had sanctioned for a school, after being petitioned by the coloured population of the area, could only be used for salaries of the instructors. It could not be used to buy land, real estate or apparatus. Booker found the buildings already used for schools ill-suited for the purpose, with no adequate heating system. The teachers were poor in both education and moral character. With the help of local people such as the merchant and banker Campbell and the mechanic Adams who extended help whenever necessary, and through his own perseverance and faith, Booker overcame these problems.
