What were the different reasons people had for not sending girls to school?

Some of the reasons are-

1. People used to think that education will make a woman independant and give her new ideas about life whereas her job was to stay at home and do the household chores. There was a superstition that educated women's husbands died quickly after marrige

2. People didn't have enough money to send any of their kids to school

3. They had money only for one child so they sent boys to school because girls were 'paraya dhan' and what was the point of educating a girl when all she had to do was to go in some one else's house?

4. Women were often considered as maids or servants. Their only purpose in life was to serve their husbands and so education held no importance in that matter and it was a waste of time and money.

5. People feared that exposing thei girls to public would give them bew ideas and they'll go out more or interact with 'strangers'

6. Also they were uncomfortable with the idea of letting the girls step out for fear of the girl being rapped or kidnapped

7. They were also uncomfortable with the idea of letting the girls and boys study together in the same place

8. The parents often had more than 3 or 4 kids an it was difficult for one mother to manage them all therefore girls were not sent to school so that they could look after the kids and the house hold chores.
