1) Cotton industry- First cotton mill in Bombay started in 1854. After 1877 several other cotton industries sprang in Kanpur, Sholapur, Madras and Kolhapur.
2) Plantation industry- Indigo, tea, coffee and rubbber plantations grew in India.
3) Coal mines and mining
