what were the three phases shared by the narrator and his grandmother?dis their relationship undergo a change?

Dear Student,

Relationship between the author and grandmother traverse between different phases of life. The author and grandmother were good friends in the village. They stayed together and the grandmother did everything for him, from waking him up to bathing and accompanying him to school. The turning point came when they moved to the city. Although they shared the same room but with time saw less of each other. The common link of friendship was snapped when the author started going to the university and was given his own room. Then the author went abroad for five years. But all these things did not change their feeling for each other. When the author came back after five years, the grandmother did not pray but sang for hours, with the neighbourhood women, of the home-coming of warriors.

The three phases shared by the narrator and his grandmother are-
The first phase was the period of time the narrator used to live with his grandmother in the village when they were very good friends and she used to accompany him to his school and also helped him in his studies.
The second phase was that period when the narrator came to the city and his grandmother was disturbed as she could not help him in his studies and also got distressed on listening that music lessons were given to his grandson in the english school. From then she rarely talked with him.
The third phase was that time when the narrator went up to the University and he got a room of his own. From then the grandmother's life contained of only the spinning wheel, feeding the sparrows and counting the beads of rosary.

Yes their relationship undergone a huge change over a span of time. While they were in the village they were much closer to each other. She used to wake him up in the morning and also got him ready for the school and also helped him in his studies.
But after coming to the city the relationship didnot remained that much closer as compared to when they were in the village. She rarely talked to him after listening that music lessons were given in the school as she felt that it has lewd associations and was not meant for the gentlefolk.Their relation got narrower when the narrator got a separate room.
Then for five long years both didnot met with each other.
And the next days he arrived home after five years she got ill and died the next day. She died peacefully but left her grandson in an ocean of tears.
Hence, we can notice that their relation went through many changes.
