We know, heat = m x s x dT
​Where, m is mass, s  is specific heat and dT is change in temperature (Tfinal- Tinitial)
Now, specific heat 's' is the same for both the water samples
So, mdT = -mdT
​Since, in water 1 L = 1kg
Let final temperature =T
So, 1 (T-40) = 1(20-T)
2T = 60
So, T = 300C

Ans. Option d) is correct: 20°C to 40°C
