What will be the product if a compound containing carbon is burnt?? name some test to confirm this?

when a carbon compound is burnt in presence of sufficient amount of oxygen, carbon dioxide and water is produced.

The general equation for the combustion of an organic compound containing hydrocarbon is as follow:

CxHy + ZO2 → xCO2 + n H2O

The presence of carbon dioxide can be confirmed by passing it through lime water which turns milky.

The reaction for the above reaction is as follow:

CO2 + Ca(OH)2 → CaCO3 + H2O.

Here calcium carbon is responsible for the milkiness of water.
