what will happen if the connecting wire of a circuit breaks down, while a device is working ?

If the connecting wire of a circuit breaks down, while a device is working then there will be sparks at that point and the device will stop functioning. The break or gap in the connecting wires becomes the resistive point and all the circuit voltage is dropped across that open point which results that no current flow through the circuit.
