what will happen if we mix water into acids?

the reaction is highly exothermic and acid can splash on ur  face

the reaction is highly exothermic and the heat evolved is so large that the container in which acid is present may burst.so acid is added into the water not water into the acid.

 You will get a solution of hydrodium ions (H3O+) with the conjugate base of the acid. For instance, you add hydrochloric acid (HCl) to water, you get:

HCl + H2O --> H3O+ + Cl-

 BOTH R CORRECT.NICE ANS   : )

When Hydrogen combines with H2o then it forms hydronium ion.

H2 + H2O ---> H3O+ + Cl-

 SO THE REACTION SHOULD BE CARRIED BY POURING WATER SLOWLY AND STIRRING IT WITH A GLASS ROD..........

  • 0

it should be along the walls of the test tube

 acid will break in H+ and OH- ions and conduct electricity.hope this will work for u.

 THE REACTION WILL EVOLVE SO MUCH OF HEAT SO THAT THE LIQUID (ACID ) MAY SPLASH OUT AND CAUSE BURNS AND THE CONTAINER WILL EXPLODE OUT...........

Hi,

we do not add water to acid but add acid to water because when we add water to acid, a large amount of heat is produced which can .This heat is used up in converting small amount of water into steam which can splash the acid on our face.but if we add acid to water, then the large amount of heat is readily absorbed by water.

Hope it helps.
Cheers!
