If the cocoroach get soked in water their spiracles get blocked and their respiratory system stops working.

I agree with SRI RANJINI but if only the head is kept in water..then the cockroach can still live no matter how long u keep it...beccause..cockroacehs breathe through holes on their body called spiracles.  Hope it help you...
