a. when the amplitude is tripled then the loudness of the sound increases.
b. when the distance between the source and the observer is doubled then the loudness of the sound decreases with the distance.

Please find below the solution to the asked query: 

a) The loudness will become three times the earlier loudness since, loudness is directly proportional to the amplitude.

b) The sound will take more time to reach the listener and the more time it takes the more energy it will loose and hence the loudness will decrease for the listener.
