what would happen if meristems cease to divide? does this ever happen?

They form permanent meristems. Yes this happens during differentiation and also during senescence of a plant the meristems stop dividing

If meristem see to divide then the growth will occur. The plant growth is throw out the life so it divide for ever.

If they cease to divide then they will not qualify for the term "meristem" .They may undergo a period of dormancy depending upon the seasonal changes in the climate .But they retain their potential to divide

If mediated cease to divide then the plant will not grow any more. The growth of the plant is stopped. This happens during the differentiation into permanent tissues when they attain specific function. This also occurs during unfavourable condition.

Yes. At a certain point of time, the some meristems stop dividing. They then become permanent tissues, having a specialized function.

Meristems are plant tissues which keep on dividing, to make the plant grow. When the plant reaches a certain height etc, they change to permanent plant tissues, which have a specific function such as protection, storage, transportation etc..

Plants growth ,depends on merstematic cell division regulated by hormone ,if it stops then plants growth stops.other related mechanism go slow & irregular.
