what would happen if the hydroponics solution was poorly aerated?

Hydroponics is a method employed for growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, in the absence of soil. If the solution is aerated constantly using an airpump, the solubility limitation of oxygen makes the use of such systems to grow large plants extremely difficult. ‚ÄčLarger plants have much larger nutrient and energy requirements and hence need systems in which the availability of oxygen is not a limitation. In this case systems where roots are periodically wet and exposed to air have very good results.
