when water is most abundant substance on the earth why do we need to conserve it

Dear Student,
75% of the earth is covered with water but still there is an urgent need to conserve it because fresh water reserves are only 2.5%. This 2.5 % fresh water is found in the form of ice caps, glaciers, ponds, lakes, rivers and underground water.

We basically use surface water that is easily available to us. This surface water is only 1% of the total fresh  water available on the earth. This is the reason why there is an urgent need to conserve it.
