When we perform sublimation activity using camphor it converts into gas but why it solidifies on the sides of the funnel . Please Please answer this experts it is urgent
Dear student,
A change of state directly from solid to gas without changing into liquid state (or vice versa) is observed, this phenomenon is called sublimation.
its a reversible process.
Camphor is the molecule which on heating changes directly into gaseous state. When vapours of camphor collected then solid camphor is formed, it wont change to any other state.
In your experiment you have cotton ball plug onto the mouth of the funnel, so vapours don't escape. So these vapours when collected changes directly to solid state.
