Where is water pressure greater, at a depth of 1 m in a large lake or at a depth of 2 m in a small pond? Explain.

Dear Student,
The pressure of the water does not depend on the area of the surface of the water body. The pressure experienced at a depth in a water body only depends on the depth and not on the size of the water body as Pressure,P = ρgh.
ρ of water = 1000kg/m3
g=9.8m/s2
So, pressure at a depth of 1m will be ,
P=1000×9.8×1
Therefore P= 9800 Pa
Pressure at a depth of 2m will be
P=1000×9.8×2
Therefore, P = 19600 Pa
Hence the pressure at 2m depth will be double than the pressure at 1 m depth.
