Which has the smallest bond angle (X- S- X) in the given molecules?
(1) OSF2 (2) OSCl2 (3) OSBr2 (4) OSI2.

These are the series of thionyl hallides,OSX2. They all have sp3 hybridisation foe S atom, and posses a pyramidal structure.
Due to inert pair effect ,when we go down the group ,s shell electrons become reluctant to undergo hybridisation and only pure p orbitals participate in bonding. Therefore, as p orbital are placed at 90 degree to each other, then for I the bond angle between I-S-I bond is very near to 90. Thus OSI2 has smallest bond angle of I-S-I bond.
