which is more basic NH3 or C6H5NH2

Dear Student,

The alkyl groups are known for its tendency of electron donation, in general basic compounds are known for its nature of proton acceptance (electron donation).

In C2H5NH2, C6H5NH2 & (C2H5)2NH the N is directly attached to the benzene ring therefore the lone pair of electrons of the N atom is the delocalized over the bezene ring. The presence of more alkyl components in a compound favours its basic nature (since inductive forces plays a role in basicity) and based on that the ranking order of basicity is,

NH3<C2H5NH2<C6H5NH2<(C2H5)2NH

Hence the answer is NH3
