which mode of excretion is found in cockroach

Dear Student,
Cockroaches are insects that belong to the Phylum Arthropoda. They are known as uricotelic because they excrete out uric acid so their mode of excretion is uricotelism. The main excretory organs of cockroach are malpighian tubules which are long, thin, filamentous, thread-like yellow coloured tubules that are found attached at the junction of midgut and hindgut. A large number ( sixty to hundred fifty) of these tubules are found. The tubules hang freely in the coelom and they don't have an external opening. The inner lining is of a single layer of glandular ciliated cells. The tubules excete the nitrogenous waste product ,mainly uric acid, from the haemolymph and and empty them into the gut, from there it leaves the body through the anus. Malpighian tubules also reabsorb water and other useful substances in the process, hence they are also osmoregulatory in function.

Cockroach eliminate waste by passing food and water through malpighian tubules that convert the waste into uric acid, which is then excreted from the?cockroach's body
