Which nutrition should be take less amount by person suffering from high bp .... carbohydrates or sodium plz confirm

Dear student,

High blood pressure, or hypertension, occurs when your blood pressure increases to unhealthy levels.Usually hypertension is defined as blood pressure above 140/90, and is considered severe if the pressure is above 180/120.

It is recommended to reduce the sodium intake and avoid eating unhealthy saturated and trans fat if one suffers from high B.P. Moreover, sugary foods and beverages contain empty calories but don’t have nutritional content, this can increase the weight, thus excessive carbohydrates should also be avoided.

Some other suggestions are as follows
  • Following a healthy diet comprising of foods that include:fruits ,vegetables whole grains and lean proteins like fish.
  • Increasing physical activity

  • Maintaining a healthy weight

  • Managing stress

  • Eating less meat, more plant products

  • Reducing dietary sodium

  • Cutting back on sweets
