Which of the following is a false statement?
(a) BH3 is not a stable compound
(b) Boron hydrides are formed when dil. HCl reacts with Mg3B2
(c) All the B – H bond distances in B2H6 are equal
(d) The boron hydrides are readily hydrolysed

Dear Student,

All the B – H bond distances in B2H6 are not equal, if  we see the structure of diboarane (B2H6), shown below:-

it shows, the B-H bridge bonds length and the B-H terminal bonds length are 1.33 Å and 1.19 Å respectively . That means in B2H6  , B-H bridge bonds length are shorter than the B-H terminal bonds length . Hence, All the B – H bond distances in B2H6 are not equal .Hence option C is correct.
