Which of these shapes has an area that is different from the rest?

Sol:

Option A)
Area of Square = a2
                         = 22
                         = 4 cm2

Option B)
Area of rectangle 1 = lxb
                               = 2x1
                               = 2 cm2
Area of rectangle 2 = lxb
                               = 2x1
                               = 2 cm2
Total Area              = Rectangle 1 + Rectangle 2
                               = 2 cm2 + 2 cm2
                             =  4 cm2
Option C)
Area of square 1    = a2
                              = 1 cm2
Similarly area for Square 2, Square 3 and Square 4 = 1 cm2

Total Area of the Square = area of (Sq1 + Sq2 +Sq3 +Sq4 )
                                      = 1 cm2 + 1 cm2 +1 cm2 + 1 cm2
                                      = 4 cm2
Option D)
Area of Triangle 1 = 1/2 x HB
                             = 1/2 x (2 cm x 2 cm)
                           = 2 cm2

Area of Triangle 2 = 1/2 x HB
                             = 1/2 x (2 cm x 2 cm)
                           = 2 cm2
Total Area of Triangle = 2 cm2 + 2 cm2
                                    = 4 cm2

Hence Option E is the correct answer.
