Which term of the sequence 7.3, 6.9, 6.5, 6.1, .... is the first negative term?

Dear Student!

The given sequence is 7.3, 6.9, 6.5, 6.1,....

This is an A.P. with first term, a = 7.3 and common difference, d = 6.9 – 7.3 = – 0.4

Let nth term of the given sequence be the first negative term.

n = 20

Thus, 20th term is the first negative of the given A.P.

Cheers!

a=7.3

d=6.9-7.3=-0.4

let the nthterm be negative

so,an<0

7.3+(n-1)-0.4<0

7.3-0.4n+0.4<0

-0.4n+7.7<0

-0.4n<-7.7

0.4n>7.7

n=7.7/0.4

n>19.25

19th term is negative
