Which type of cell division is required for growth and repair of body and which type is involved in formation of gametes??

Mitosis is used for growth and repair of body and produces deploid cells identical to each other and the parent cell. Meiosis is used for sexual reproduction and haploid cells different to each other and parent cell. Thus, meiosis results in formation of gametes

for the repair an replacement of body cells i.e somatic cells mitosis is done to produce diploid cells but for formation of haploid cells i.e. gametes meiosis is done

Hello friend..
Mitosis is a type of cell division which can result in two daughter cells having equal number of chromosomes as compared to the parent nucleus.
This is used for the growth and repair of the body as it can replace the old, torn cells into new ones.
Whereas meiosis is a type of cell division which can result in four daughter cells having half the number of chromosomes as compared to parent nucleus.
This is used for the formation of gametes as this can result into a zygote of the actual number of chromosomes after fusing with another gamete.
Hope this answer is helpful to you.
