Which type of respiration is cyanide resistant pathway?Explain.

Dear student,
Cyanide blocks the flow of electrons in the electron transport chain during aerobic respiration. Cyanide inactivates cytochrome oxidase thus inhibiting electron flow, this type of respiration is called cyanide sensitive pathway. But in plant mitochondria there is an alternate oxidase system which reduces terminal oxygen even in the presence of  cyanide. This pathway is called cyanide resistant pathway.
